“3-Day Monk” is a direct translation of the Japanese term “Mikka Bouzu” (三日坊主, me-kah boh-zu), which refers to a person that picks up a cause, a subject, a skill, or an idea, pursues it passionately for a while, and then finally gets tired of it and moves on to something else.  For example, people that completely forget their New Year’s Resolutions by February could be considered Mikka Bouzu.

A closet with a slightly used karate outfit, an old guitar, and a stack of half-read novels is a telltale giveaway of a 3-Day Monk.

Traditionally this term has a negative connotation, associated with lazy people who lack dedication and committment.  But not too long ago, I realized something: I am a Mikka Bouzu from head to toe, and I’m proud of it!  It doesn’t have to mean that I’m lazy.  I have plenty of drive and committment.  It just means I love learning for the sake of learning.  I means I get enamoured by new ideas.  There are just too many interesting things in this world, and not enough time to study them all!

I maintain that whatever the world says, having the ability to change, adapt, and learn continually are incredibly valuable, especially in today’s business world.  Mikka Bouzers have the capacity to become the new world leaders in business and technology.  (If they can just keep themselves away from shiny objects for long enough).

For me, 3-Day Monk is a chronicle of all my ideas, projects, and random thoughts, complete with live feedback from the internets to keep me on track when I’m on to something good.  For you, 3-Day Monk is a chance to watch different entrepreneurial projects unfold right before your eyes, and maybe even get a chance to participate for a cut of the action.  You can see the status of all my projects at any given time, see the steps I take as I build them, and most importantly, see whether or not they work.
